If you have problems with teeth, do not put off your treatment. The longer it takes you to get to a dentist, the greater the impact to your teeth. And not only that, you put your overal health in danger, and also your wallet. A small filling with pain-free treatment is cheaper than tooth extraction and its consequent replacement by a new tooth (implants, crowns, dental bridges). Often, even dental hygiene doesn´t help.
Sedation, a painless visit to the dentist
Sedation is recommended for patients undergoing more complicated dental procedures, or for patients who are scared of dental treatment, as well as older children or patients with a strong gaging reflex. A medicinal substance is administred by an anesthesiologist intravenously. The substance induces a state similar to a deep sleep where the patient can manage a painful or unpleseant procedure without pain, without psychological and physical suffering. Sedation also enables the dentist to focus fully on their work, without worrying about painful reactions of the patient.

When do we recommend sedation?
Sedation is recommended in cases where unpleasant sensations cannot be avoided. Also in cases where it is not possible to get a satisfying level of desensitization – for example, in cases of multiple tooth extraction, especially in the lower jaw, implementing tooth implants, or resectioning of root sockets.

What will the procedure feel like?
The patient is placed in a state comparable to being half-asleep, thus not perceiving pain and with no recall of most of the procedure. But it is possible to communicate with the attending dentist.
Is sedation safe for me and is it without any nausea?
Sedation is safe for procedures without pain. Administered substances inducing a status similar to deep sleep are very safe, and waking up is usually pleasant without accompanying nausea or vomiting. Complications are very rare and you will be instructed about them in an interview with an anaestesiologist prior to the procedure. When do I not need it?
Sedation is not necessary for short and painless procedures or for people with tolerance towards dental procedures. But it is always according to your needs, so your treatment can be without pain.
What do I have to comply with before and after the procedure?
- On the day of surgery, refrain from eating at least 6 hours prior and refrain from drinking at least 4 hours prior to the procedure
- If you use long-term medication, do not refrain from taking it on the day of the surgery, but take it in the morning with a sip of water
- If you took a pill with a calming or drousy effect, please inform your dentist. Good health condition is very important for the surgical procedure and for eliminating complications after the surgical procedure. Do not attend your treatment if you suffer from even a common cold and please ask for an appointment rescheduling.
- For your treatment, please wear clothing that would make you feel comfortable
- It is necessary to be accompanied by another person
- ATTENTION: It is not permitted to drive a motor vehicle after the surgery.
